Since its inception in 1992, the Institute for Chemical Dependency Studies (ICDS) has been at the forefront of counselor education, offering flexible learning options for aspiring professionals. Students enrolled in ICDS’s Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) Training Program can choose to complete their training either in-person at one of our classroom locations or through our online distance learning platform. Graduates of the program receive a certificate and transcript, qualifying them to enter the counseling field as Counselor Interns (CI), the first step toward full licensure.
ICDS is a proud member of the National Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) and has been an approved NAADAC education provider since 1995. Additionally, we are certified by the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals, offering continuing education for those seeking certification or recertification as Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors in Texas. Our status as a Career School, authorized by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), reflects our commitment to providing top-tier training and support for individuals pursuing a career in addiction counseling.
Recognizing the growing demand for specialized services, ICDS expanded its offerings to include court-ordered outpatient programs. These services cater to individuals mandated by the court to receive counseling or substance abuse treatment, providing a structured environment that emphasizes recovery and personal growth. This addition not only broadens the scope of our training programs but also enables us to serve a wider range of clients, furthering our mission to support both counselors and individuals in need of professional addiction treatment.
