Oregon - CADC Certification Training

ICDS offers an ACCBO approved curriculum that satisfies the education requirements to become a CADC I, CADC II and CADC III in the state of Oregon.

CADC I, CADC II & CADC III Requirements

The three levels of the CADC credential differ based on degree, education, supervision, and the certification test. Below is a summary of the requirements for each level of certification.

CADC I - Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor I - Associate Level
Degree None Required
Education 150 hours addiction counseling education
Supervision 1,000 hours in a counseling environment
Letter of Verification Verification of sobriety of two years
Test NCAC I National Certification Examination

CADC II - Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor II - Proficiency Level
Degree Minimum B.A or B.S.*
Education 300 hours addiction counseling education
Supervision 4,000 hours in a counseling environment
Letter of Verification Verification of sobriety of three years
Test NCAC II National Certification Examination
NAADAC Case Presentation Examination

CADC III - Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor III - Master's Level
Degree Minimum Master's Degree
Education 300 hours addiction counseling education
Supervision 6,000 hours in a counseling environment
Letter of Verification Verification of sobriety of three years
Test MAC National Certification Examination
NAADAC Case Presentation Examination
*a minimum of an AA degree, and a combination of academic courses specializing in addiction counseling may also satisfy degree credit/hour requirements
